Daniel Guimera, President, and Daniel Hector Guimera, Manager, of Southern California Pools have set out to become Landscape Architects. The first milestone was reached at UCLA Extension Landscape Architecture Program, from where they will be receiving their certificates on June 19, 2015. The four-year program encompassed all the knowledge a Landscape Architect needs in order to apply design theory and stewardship of the natural and built environments. The next milestone will be to become licensed Landscape Architects with the State of California, which they are currently working towards. The final year of the program was dedicated to individual thesis projects that pertained to current issues Landscape Architects are facing.

Daniel Guimera focused on the problem of urban sprawl, which is the result of the auto-oriented development of our cities, that creates fragmented bedroom neighborhoods with a large number of commuters.

Daniel Hector Guimera focused on the problem we are facing in our existing cemeteries around the world; they are running out of space. The manner in which our loved ones are buried is not sustainable, and change is needed.
